Reel Impact: Design Labs for Change

In partnership with the Film and TV Charity and its Reel Impact Fund, ARC HOUSE is delivering a series of design labs focused on the lived experiences of Black and global majority creatives from the West Midlands.

These labs create space for open dialogue, research, and co-creation, bringing together creatives, industry professionals, and community voices to identify barriers and prototype solutions.

Each lab explores a critical theme:

Leadership and Progression, addressing the lack of Black senior leaders across the creative industries and the need for mentorship, sponsorship, and more transparent career pathways.

Funding and Access, tackling disparities in public and private investment, and reimagining what equitable funding could look like for Black-led creativity.

Visibility and Representation, focusing on shifting power in storytelling, commissioning, and narrative control, centering Black experiences in media and culture.

Sustaining the Creative Workforce, looking at economic resilience, wellbeing, and the conditions needed for long-term careers in the arts and screen sectors.

Insights from these labs will shape ARC HOUSE’s strategic framework and organisational model, designed to drive change in how the sector invests, supports, and values Black creativity.
